Marcelo Umaña is one of the pioneers of the electronic dance culture in Chile and started out his carreer in 1992 when he founded his music magazine Musica Marginal, soon followed by djing at the notorious house and techno parties in Santiago called Barrakuda. In 1994 he began working at the first record store in Santiago dedicated to electronic music, Background Records.

In those pioneering years he was involved in various initiatives related to music such as producing his own Amniotik Abstrakt Dance parties and collaborating with radio shows as well as other music magazines. From the very beginning, his musical taste has been characterized by its deep and elegant tones including detroit techno, house, electro as well as deep and minimal sounds. From 1996 to 2001 he was resident dj in different clubs in Santiago, among them Planet, Casa Club and Open House, which was the first house and techno club in Chile. But what stands out most for him are his 3 years as a resident in Club La Feria (1998-2001), where he shared the stage with people like ‘evil’ Eddie Richards, Colin Dale, Lukas Rodebush aka EBE, Christian Vogel, Inland Knights, Kevin Yost, Luciano, Tony Mass, Alejandro Vivanco and Ricardo Villalobos.

Marcelo moved to the Netherlands in 2002, living in Amsterdam, where he integrated into the local house scene, performing in different venues such as Club Risk, Studio 80, Club 11, Twstd, etc, and at the same time moving his interests into musical production and his own radio show called “Amniotik Sound” every wednesday in a Chilean internet radio station www.rinfm.com. His international appearences include diverse places such as Lima, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Warsaw, Krakow and Bahrain.
